I always dry my fingers then use a product to “oil” my fingers

Hi Jerry, which "product," exactly

I don't have sweaty hands but I think I have acid hands. My strings turn black and I don't get more than a few days of days of "optimum" playing out of them. Never bothered me but it sure as hell bothered friends whose guitars I picked up.

I have a hunch that perhaps a more alkaline diet might help? I added more alkaline foods to my diet a couple of years ago and it definitely seems like I get more life out of my strings before they blacken.

Whenever you play the guitar be sure to wipe it down when you're done. As for strings, I wouldn't go with pure nickle or nickle wrapped if you have sweat issues. Try something with a stainless steel wrap as it better resists corrosion. I think GHS Boomers may be SS wrapped.

I used to have sweaty hands but I got rid of it using a combination of these handheld electrolysis devices and hypnosis (long time ago!).  Haven't had an issue since.  Something like this:

I had a look, Craig, but I'm not so keen to stop sweat oozing from my pores, just protecting my strings while playing.

Thanks anyway

cheers

Why put up with a problem when you can cure it?  Your hands (and feet) are NOT required areas to keep the body cool.

Okay Craig, I will have a more serious look into this. Apparently it is a procedure called iontophoresis and is to treat the condition called hyperhidrosis.

I am due to see the doctor soon so I will ask him about this.

Some actors, actresses and singers have tried to have their other sweat glands either removed or altered, but that's dangerous as your body can overheat.  Hands and feet are different.  I'm curious to hear what your doc says.  I solved my issue over 30 years ago and it's been all positive since.
