Deep Purple with an orchestra Blu-ray....
I prefer the original DP.....you know...the Fireball one.

But, were the lyrics on the box matched to the song?

No. There weren't any. At least you try.

Took me over an hour trying to get the thing to play in my computer.
Checked everything I knew to check. All it would do was spin and make clicking sounds.

Started looking for lyrics so at least get some enjoyment from it....
and read that it was Blu-ray....my computer doesn't play Blu-ray.

Looks really good on the big screen but doesn't sound as good as it would have
on the PC system.

So....looks like I'm going to get an internal blu-ray burner for the PC.

It's just wrong when rockers try to show they have "class" and hire an orchestra to back them..... and a kids choir......

It makes me want to bang my head for all the wrong reasons.

The one from '69? That was a weird period in Purple's history. Famously Ian Gillan wrote the lyrics the night before the recording, which mostly consist of him wondering what the heck he was doing there, doing that.

Deep Purple with Orchestra: Live at Montreux 2011

I liked the Orchestra and think differently about that than you Herb....and sure
don't think Deep Purple has any reason to be concerned about "class" or not.

I'm not complaining about the video, sound or anything....it was most excellent.

What I meant is that I prefer the members that recorded Fireball...Machine Head..
In Rock....
I like Steve Morse....when he was doing the Dreggs. IMO he just doesn't fit in DP.
The only one I think could ever fill that spot is Richie. Without him I haven't cared
as much for them.

If that doesn't bother others then they made a great DVD Blu-ray...good sounds and
very clear video.

Thanksgiving morning coffee, waking up....Have a great holiday everybody.

That's not even the worst... I was looking for some new stuff to get off iTunes on yt and I came across a "metal" band using autotune, quite blatantly even.

I died a little inside

Have to agree with that.

Satriani joined for a little while in '93 and was asked to stay..wonder what that would have been like.

Deep Purple with and Orchestra, nothing new, the Concerto for Group and Orchestra dates back to to 1969, two years before Fireball.

But that said I know where you are coming from. The have just announced that they will headline on one of the Nights at the 2013 Dubai Jazz Festival, If I am in town I will be going, but it won't be the same.
