He's not arguing about the best DAW out there .... He's just showing how to use Any DAW as a front end to PT HD .... Ad that particular article isn't THAT old

It's just a rid bit Bapu was throwing out there ... Sme info ... 911 .... Some juice ... Gossip , ... Here it is ... This is that ....

Some people didn't know

Thanks
That article is old - 2 years and a couple of versions of ProTools old. You can't really use any daw as a front end to PT since some version of PT8. The most you can do is to create your MIDI in another daw and import that into PT or maybe import your audio tracks into PT - of course the latter depends on having used bwf as your audio format. That really doesn't count on using any daw as a front end to PT. To me using something as a front end means dealing with that piece of software or hardware as your data entry point and not the end program (PT in this case).

Then again here's one of the reasons I really don't come around here much any more - seeing certain posters as they're the be-all and end-all of anything.

Ya, Mooch is kind of a big deal around here.

Two years is now old?  Dang...  And here I am still getting by with Sonar Producer 4...

(Of course, the last movie I saw in a theater was the premiere of the Rock, so I tend to lose a lot of time somewhere!)

I used to use Pro Tools as a front end for Reaper! Well, in terms of hosting my instruments in Reaper and controlling them via Pro Tools. Because that's the only way I could use Pro Tools without the thing choking every 5 minutes.

Should work with Sonar is what they said.

Noticed that too, uh?

I like mixing in Pro Tools, and I actually like some of those AIR instruments quite a bit (the good news being that they'll soon be available as Audio Units and VST), but in terms of performance, man...

Admittedly, I'm not working w/ the most powerful machine, but, still... If I set the buffers under 64, even w/ a single track simply armed for recording and an amp sim (no matter which one), I get clicks and pops. And playback isn't even engaged!

W/ the buffers at 64, I may be able to actually record 10 or 15 seconds before PT drops out. Virtual Instruments - practically the same thing. Knowing how sensitive PT is, I even tried to accommodate it by tweaking my machine as suggested - something I never needed to do w/ Logic or Studio One.

By comparison, I very rarely need to set the buffers higher than 32 in Logic, and I often leave iTunes, Mail and Safari open in the background.

But I have zero problem running Superior Drummer + Kontakt for bass + EXS-24 (Logic's Sampler) + Amp sims + Impulse Loaders + compressions and EQs as I need them. In fact Logic never dropped out during a recording - not once. In Pro Tools, it is systematic.

I am just saying ...the article says it can be used for any daw .....and if you read it ...you would see ...that's what it says ...

Personally I will probably never purchase it .......and I am not the end all or beginning all of anything ... Just a dude who likes sonar ...so don't say that ...because I didn't say I was

But when I or anyone else puts something in front of you that says ...this product does something ....then how do you deny it?

Does it do it well ....is it smooth sailing ?  I don't know ...never tried it ...and probably never will ...too much cash for me.

But it says it works with any daw and I have a friend who uses digital performer in front of pro tools hd .... So I was curious and been looking into it

I digress  back to the article

....clearly the article states it works with any DAW....

Sorry ...but it does .. It says that ...the article ....even if the article was 3000 billion years old....it says that

I am sorry that Bapu put a tid bit of info up here ...for you ...for us ....for all of man kind ...he put that article for all to see

I hope you accept my apology ..

Sincerely,

A guy who like sonar x2
