have been something that came with the computer for me.
 
I recently had one that wouldn't work on some of the keys....sometimes, like when
I needed to log-on.
 
So I had to buy one. Took a while just to find one because they are so proud of them.
 
I finally got one, a Logitech wireless K800 backlit.
Never had a backlit and sure like that.
 
Didn't like having a wire...not for a DAW. They're just to short for my setup.
 
I like the way the lights are off until it senses you're near.
 
It has an on-off switch and recharges with a USB and can do that while it's in use.
 
Thought I'd give it a mention and a thumbs up in case anybody's looking.

 Great idea, having the backlight. Heck now you can type in the dark.

.....I was typing in the dark before...?
 
Now I can log-on first try.....it works!

By the way ... speaking of USB devices ... have you guys seen these ... I wanted to get some and put in strategic places around the house ... they are USB chargers built in to your wall outlet so you don't have to screw with wall warts.

You can get them in all kinds of configurations. All USB ports, ports on the sides of where the AC cords plug in ... etc.

 I did take notice of those at the store just the other day...pretty cool!

I wouldn't be without my solar powered wireless Logitech keyboard. Before that I had a Microsoft Arc, another good one except it didn't have proper cursor keys or a numpad. But I much prefer the slim profile keyboards. I don't know how anyone used those big chunky old style keys anymore. Gotta be bad for your fingers. 

I refuse to work with a wired keyboard, period. I like nothing better than slouching in my chair...

Logitech K750 - no back-light, but then ..no batteries either.
