I have a (wired) backlit keyboard as well, but it's not as nice as the logitech one.  it's a small footprint and I don't like it for that reason.  I use it on my "mobile" DAW since it's smaller.

this one doesn't have batteries, either, just powered by USB.  but it does have an ON/OFF switch as well, but it does not "sense" anything - it's either on or off.

I'm hoping to get a wireless keyboard on my next DAW.

I've been wondering if they introduce similar downsides the way a wi-fi device can.

I want to get a wireless Wacom tablet too.

Same concern.

by "downsides" do you mean latency and/or bottlenecking (where the data has to retry, so it looks like it didn't work temporarily then suddenly it goes thru)?

if so, I can say that sometimes yes, that does happen, at least that's been my experience.  that's why I won't use a wireless mouse.  it's not as consistent as a wired mouse.

Yes stuff like that and DPC spikes etc.

I'm gonna ask Jim R if he can make a combo work well together when I order my next DAW.

We got our kid a Bamboo tablet/pen some years ago and she
has used it. She draws a lot with it. Been a very good thing for her.
It's a good size to...I think about 8"of active area.
CTE640 - couldn't find it but found CTE450 which is a much smaller active area.

The keyboard has a led battery level indicator. I charged it when I got it, a few weeks ago
and I haven't charged it yet and still indicates 3 bars of 3.
I think that sensor for the lights is sure helping.

You bought your kid a Bamboo?

You should get a super dad award for that!

:-)

Mike she is a wonderful little girl. She is not spoiled, she's respectful and considerate
of others, polite and loves life.
I could brag about many of her qualities because there is so much I'm proud of her for...
I'm just glad the thing works good for doing some of the things she enjoys.

An award?...I imagine I'm the company of many super dads and we're awarded everyday we
have with them....and thank you Mike.

That's a new one on me...never had any problems. The K750 and MX laser mouse I'm using use a Logitech unified receiver, no lags, no nothing. The laser mouse is the one to get if you get mouse tracking issues - this thing works so fine it works on my glass desktop surface.

I don't have any way to know positively without hooking up some gear, but I'd bet a wooden nickle that Logitech's unifying receiver, although 2.4Ghz, isn't 802.11 - that'd be way overkill for short range low data rate i/o. Probably a bluetooth-ish rf hopper..

I had the bottlenecking issues with several different wireless setups and finally went back to a wired mouse. It was usually ok until the batteries start to die at which point the movements became erratic. Same thing with the wireless keyboard. I grew tired of the whole thing and went back to a comfortable wired keyboard and mouse. No more batteries to change.
