Haha, grumpy Miles, love(d) him.

Seen him every time he was in DK, in Cirkus Bygningen (Circus Building) and it was amazing. One of my friends yelled "YEAH" right as the band went quiet and Miles made a BLART trumpet sound at him, nearly died with laughter.

Also saw him at Ringe festival, he had this guy who played what looked like a clay flower pot for 15 minutes, just went nuts on that thing, good times.

The Maillard Reaction

I thought the read was entertaining, but it made me feel sort of bad for the victims.

I thought it was a terrific insight into the competitive nature of those old stage players.

The funny thing is, I have the Stan Getz stuff and it's fine... but I sort a like Eric Dolphy a bunch too.

I got to see Miles twice.  I'm glad to have had the chance.

Rude, arrogant and boorish...nice character combo. Good job he could play.

He says in the video that there's too much jazz in the record stores and 95% of it "sucks" and you need someone good to help you find what to listen to. I'd say that's a fair assessment.

That 95% figure is a quote from him also, and I agree. There are extremely few jazz songs I've heard that I can appreciate. So I guess I'm more hip to it than I thought ... according to this guy, whoever he is?

I can appreciate good jazz, but I do have to agree with this guy except his assessment of Kenny G. The thing about Kenny G that is so appealing to his fans is, his music is melodic, not chaotic. And it is in fact a type of jazz, just not the kind this guy does, so his assessment of Kenny G was quite unfair. Not that I'm a big fan or anything. The only jazz album I own is by Queen. ;)

Miles is one of those guys where I absolutely loved him for the musician he was, but not so much the man.
