Shoot in raw and forget about white balance.

For me it's halogen all the way, best lighting ever, so warm and nice. The day they make them illegal here I'm buying a container full of them. We can't have CFLS because of the parrots, if you have birds never have CFL lighting on them, they will see the flicker unless you get high frequency bird CFLS, imagine living your life under a strobe light, no wonder so many parrots go crazy.

"Shoot in raw and forget about white balance."

Shooting photos in RAW merely allows you to put off making a white balance decision until later. Eventually, you'll have to not forget about it.

In the future consider adjustable lightbulbs. Last week I heard of these:

Philips Hue bulbs "can display can display different tones of white light – from warm yellow white to vibrant blue white. Of course, it can also recreate any color in the spectrum."
You can control them with an Ipad.

I was looking at a $25 remote controlled LED at Lowes 2 days ago... it could make 8 different "party" colors and it came with it's very own remote control.

Shooting jpeg applies the white balance correction to the jpg/bitmap, that means you will have to do destructive editing to fix a bad white balance.

But I think you knew perfectly fine what I meant.

I think you think I am thinking what you think.

I had mentioned that many cheap cameras can function as a cheap spectrometer and, I think, you are discussing digital photo editing.

Or sumthin' like that.

I see, must have skipped over that, carry on...

I'm not saying it's rational, but I LOVE these types of things!   I can easily see myself getting these once I can afford to.

to me, nothing looks as good as the good old incandescent lamps when it comes to interior lighting for a home or office.

My suggestion: buy the lightbulbs in various wattages by the case and store them in your garage or attic until needed. The tree huggers and green weenie wacko's are trying to get them ALL banned in favor of the LED, and toxic lamps..... makes no sense to me when they had a hissy fit over mercury a number of years back and now these new toxic lamps are the darlings of that movement. Go figure....

I like the new LED lamps.   My front room is lit by 2 banks of 4 GU10s running of a dimmer.  I always had problems with bulb life with the GU10s so I bit the bullet and forked out for a load of dimmable LED GU10s.   The light is the same colour and brightness as the old halogen ones.
