My favorite part of a deep snow is how quiet it gets. like a giant sound absorbing blanket on everything.

It's a bit louder if you stay on top of it.

We are finally getting there.

Yesterday it was 70 and sunny.  BBQ'd dinner outside in shorts and tshirt.

Today it is 30 and falling outside and getting ready to snow.

It sure looks pretty in the video. My opinions of snow vary greatly. Being from the south I am not the most excited to see it when it comes.
The first snow is nice but it does get old for me after the third or fourth consecutive day I have to clear it at 4am so I can go to work.Kind of like chocolate cake. I like a small piece once in a while but if you force feed me chocolate cake every day for a month I am sick of it.

well, the final tally ended up being 30" at my location...

other places down in the valley only got about 6".....

my location is obviously prime for receiving lake effect snow, which can effectively DOUBLE the amount of regular snow fall.

the great salt lake, gives us the best snow on earth, due to lake effect.

i broke my back shoveling the first round, super wet, like 'sierra cement', but the lake effect snow is SO dry, you can't pack a snowball with it.

Me, too. Silence is a most precious commodity in the city! I live a quarter-mile from a freeway, so there is this constant subliminal noise floor that you don't consciously notice until it briefly disappears right after a snowfall. I like to set a lawn chair in the driveway, light a doob and soak in the silence.
