There were 3 contract workers hurt last week in one of the plants.
They were making a lift and somehow the grading came loose.
One fell with the fiberglass grating and landed on the other two below.

I don't know all the details but three went to the hospital and a few
that were suppose to know what was going on were sent home....I
thought that all of them should have known what was going on.

One may never walk again.
And all of them may never work here again..or ever work again. When
one includes their family members and the devastation...it'll sure bring tears.

Be careful Star...you'd be surprised how many don't realize there is a wind speed
rating for man-lifts as well as how to use a fall harness correctly.

I'm sorry to hear about those guys Spacey.I'm glad noone was seriously injured. I recall a recent accident here locally with this kind of a lift that resulted in death. A person was using one to take video footage of a football game and the lift was on an unsteady grade. It fell with the occupant onboard.

In the situation pictured the two main things that could severely injure/kill are

1-stepping off the opening unaware a helper has lowered the lift, that one would hurt a little.2. We drive this through a doorway only a little higher than the lift when lowered. If the driver isn't paying attention when going through the doorway they can be decapitated if they don't duck at the proper time.

Got a little scare not long ago on a skid loader. I was taking dirt down the hill in a bucket and rolled the machine on its bucket with the back wheels off the ground. The weight distribution was off and I should have been backing down that hill. Long story short it landed on the bucket and I used the hydraulics as leverage to right the machine, could have been much worse. All it takes is one brief lapse in thinkiing to either get injured or die.

I used to hate it when I got to the other end of the factory only to discover that someone had neglected to plug the lift in so it could fully charge....... dead battery on a lift is not cool.
