Oldest pic I have - first dedicated room in Quebec, Akareb la Rouge (basically a closet):

Less than optimal temporary set up in Montreal, during the PC/Mac transition...

Temporary set up in Vegas, waiting for the new desktop and the house next year:

See the pattern - Red, black - and a touch of gray, as Jules mentioned.... :P

I would prefer the darker colors..... black and red and warm brown wood tone .... but that's just me.

I went with dark green (hunter-forest) for my accent wall and a darker (not too dark) grey for the other 3.
Very calming and relaxed atmosphere.

Hi,

The color of the room's walls of ceiling have never been an issue for me ... I still write. I am not sure that I could ever think that it was the color of that wall, or the ceiling tapestry or the posters on the wall that made any difference in the work I do, but in general, if you are comfortable with yourself, I am not sure what is really needed, and anything is inspiration as much as anything else.

At times, contrast is good for me, though, as it gives me different stuff, but I tend to expand the ways of writing into different areas and such, that I was not able to do before, and again, I am not sure that is as much me and my age and comfort with the writing, than it is the room I do it in. In some cases, and poems, I've done them when I was at work in the middle of taking calls for database entries.

Thx for asking ...

I went with a marmalade color in my studio.... I really like the color. Not quite red and not quite pink and not really anything but what it is.Very soft pastels are great for relaxed areas.

We just went to home Depot and picked colors for our living room. I agree Jubilee that the smaller stores probably spend more time helping. In my case it's all about location and availability. They actually have a lot of information in Home Depot for color coordination. They had this computer with a touch screen that let you  pick your colors and see what they would look like in a room. This helped  decide NOT to buy one color. Finally went with a light pastel green for the living room , and I never liked green until I seen this shade of it. Very light and subdued.

One small tip...get the paint that has the primer in it already.A one step process.

Alright, you silly boys.

Red and blackness and I'd throw in some gray for good measure.
Is this your studio Julibee?

That looks a bit more like the coke dealer I never had than my "studio".
