Just saw the preview for the Evil Dead remake. 
 
Doesn't look half a bad as I thought. The directors were clever enough to remove the Ash character - because, who could fill Bruce Campbell's shoes, anyway? 

Apparently, Campbell turned down an offer for a cameo. Anyway...

W/ that out of the way, it'll probably make for yet another generic ok movie, in the same vein as all those other horror movie remakes. It's all only a pretext for graphic violence that will generate money, isn't it?

I'm wondering how much of that money will come from people like me, who are simply curious to see what they've done to it... 

Did I mention I suddenly feel old because I saw the original one on the big screen in 83 or 84?

So as long as we're doing remakes of cult movies, what's next? A remake of The Holy Grail? 

I tell you - There is a pestilence upon this land,  nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.

I can do without gore.
Usually they just seem dumb without the fun- for me.

I did get "IP Man" that you suggested to me and love it.
I forgot to tell you as it was quite some time back but we
just watched it again a few nights ago and it was still just as good!

Feeling old? LOL....what's bad is when you can watch the original
Dracula, Frankenstein and Wolfman and name all the actors.....my
wife is better than me at that...she's a half year older LOL.

 The horror genre seems so very large here. Both my comcast and netflix accounts are loaded with enough horror movies to watch till I turn 80 and thats a long time from now.

 I guess I am amazed at the interest in it, at least to this extent. My guess is the remake was intended to coincide with Halloween. Remakes are seldom as good as the originals from my limited observations and my observations are soley limited lol.

 The Holy Grail would be an interesting remake. I might take a gander at it if it came out.

 Speaking of horror movies I watched my first one the other night in ages. About a couple of spys sent over to infiltrate a German bunker back in WW2. They stumble on a bunch of dead Nazis apparently eaten alive by a shapeshifting demon. Lots of body parts laying all round' One Nazi is left along with one of the spys.  The demon was conjured in order to use as a weapon against the allys....quite an imaginative stretch. The demon was kind of cute until she shapeshifted. I almost turned the tv off several times during the movie but watched the whole thing.......wanted to see how it ended.  Can't say I'd watch it again or any other movie like that any time soon.

   I remember having more of an interest in that kind of thing a long time ago. I like to read about real phenomina though.

I'm a die hard fan of those old Universal monster movies, as well as the Hammer classics, so I could probably name quite a few of them, though of course, it isn't because I remember them from back in the days.


I used to have this little Bela Lugosi "shrine" in a corner of my studio - Dracula doll, copies of Lugosi's autopsy and death certificates, photos and all that cool stuff. 


I also name my tattoos after those guys - the bat on my arm is Mr. Lugosi, the raven on my chest is Mr. Price, the snake is Mr. Karloff. Next one will probably be Mr. Chaney or Mr. Frye.

I'll have to check that one out! I recently watched one I'd been wanting to see for ages, called Dead Snow - a Norwegian horror comedy about Nazi zombies. Not bad. :)

movies are great now that I can see them LOL.

They were thirty years before my time but I remember my mom
would stay up late with me so I could watch them...when I was like six.
I had all the monster models (Rivell I think)...big into model building then.
I hear the ones that didn't get set on fire or blown up ( like mine) are worth
some cash.lol

I first saw the original Dracula in 1990 - the CBC was airing all those cool monster movies, late night. We didn't have english channels at home before that, and all the movies we could rent or buy were dubbed in french, which sucked, of course. Anyway, I don't think there was much of an audience for those old movies back there.


Anyway, I'd filled a few VHS w/ those classics which I kept until DVDs were finally available. 


Incidentally, they've finally done some restoration work for the upcoming BluRay edition. I almost wish I owned a BluRay player just for those.
