I mostly do/have done electronic junk compositions and have an Samson R11 just for giggles.. More recently I have been wanting to get a better mic for vocals as i have upcoming projects that are real songs require vocals.
 
So, after advice from upstairs I ended up with an AT2035 and ***holy cow**!!!!.. noise floor in the basement, great transients, low coloration..  really impressive.. (happy dance smiley).. its been here two days and I have already done some backing vocals for a friends track..
 
Now, looking ahead to a real project.. am investing in some more serious acoustic treatment to make a hanging vocal booth (just the booth, not the singer).. and have five 8'*4.5' acoustic sheets on order.. some hooks in the ceiling and voyola..
 
So, vocals is pretty new to me so as I only have 2 sets of outs.. this leaves me outs 3,4 to play with. Current thought was to have a (spare) mixer in the vocal booth to allow the singer to mix/balance their headphone feed indepently of whatever i want to do in Sonar.
 
So was thinking two mono feeds (vocals and music) on 3,4 to the mixer in the vocal booth where they can be panned centre and some reverb go on the vocals.. good idea?
 
In Sonar then i would create a monitor bus and put sends from vocal track (panned L) and a sub-mix instruments bus (panned R)..
 
So this would be:
 
music tracks> sub-mix bus> main + send to monitor (pan R)
vocals> main + send to monitor (pan L)
 
that work?.

Yes, that would work though you'd only be getting mono feeds to the vocal booth and you also giving the "singer" a whole load of gear to mess around with rather than concentrating on "singing".
 
It would be better to feed 3-4 as a stereo sub mix of the music to which you (as engineer) could then add more or less voc as required via a send when the "singer" says 'Can you turn me up a bit?'

The only mic I have happens to be an AT4033 which I bought mebee 10-12 yrs ago and totally love it as well. Of course when I bought it, I had no clue about mics (not that a whole lot has changed since), and solely went on the recommendation of a friend, but I'm glad he did though.
