A second 2 channels DBX compressor won on Facebook - I have no clue what I'll use it for, I never track more than one instrument at a time and I only use it as a safety limiter before my audio interface when tracking vocals or to give a bit of bite to DI guitars. I guess I could sell it on eBay, but it's not worth the hassle. It's not like it's a great compressor.

A Steinberg remote control, also won on FB - which, sadly, only works w/ Cubase, which I rarely use. I guess I could sell it on eBay, but it's not worth the hassle.

The relatively new Mackie MR-5s, which I'm still getting used to and dig quite a bit.

An old Alice Cooper poster for a 1971 show, a gift from my lovely lady - because she totally gets me. :P

Now I need to find a spot for the old M-Audio monitors (on the little desk under Alice) which I intended to use a secondary pair of monitors to check out mixes because, well, they suck, but I'm used to listening to music on them. Problem being that I don't really have any room left besides placing them pretty much against the wall.

The little Alesis I used on the road were re-affected - the USB connexion makes them perfect for watching movies and stuff w/ the laptop in the bedroom.

The white wall w/ the poster on it is actually the side of a closet, which I intend to use to track vocals - should be large enough so that we don't suffocate in there.

That leaves me w/ a bit of room treatment to do, mainly to deaden the wall behind the desk and the corners a bit - though I don't want to do anything too radical since we'll be moving into our new house sometime next year. So I'm hoping to find something that I can easily remove and use in another room.

Best thing you could do behind the desk is to put a bookcase full of randomly sized books there, for the absorption/diffusion properties of the books. Or so I'm told (is this another old wive's audio tale?)

Heard that one often too - however, 99% of our books (as pretty much all the rest of our stuff) are stored at the in-laws' place because, well, we moved by plane. :s

We only brought what we needed to survive, so I dedicated a little suitcase to the works of Nietzsche I can't do without. Not enough to seriously absorb or diffuse anything.

I wonder if a Kindle reader would do.

Make sure the screen is facing the wall, the back may absorb something.

Actually, it's my wife as a plush - one of the caracters she plays in the show, one of those toys Cirque is selling. I had to have a couple of them in the studio to keep me company. ;)

My Kindle is an app on my iPad, would that work?

Rain,  despite their low cost, I actually get great results (I think) on my Mackie MR5's...and they are the older ones.  I am getting good translation to the outside world with them after getting used to them.  Good luck with yours!

Heh. We got the same monitors (except you might have the larger version... can't tell from the pic). Do you find they get excessively hot? They do sound pretty darned good though. Glad I bought them... and they haven't started a fire yet.
