I lived not far from where local hero was filmed back in the late 80s, early 90s. The village (with the phonebox and pub) is/was Pennan up on the coast just west of Fraserburgh. Very attractive area. The phonebox is still there, or at least is on google earth.

Peterhead where I lived, with my apologies to the locals, was not quite as attractive, just bloody wet and cold. In the winter it got even worse....

Fit like? for any Peterheedians reading this....
