But I can't eat anything yet for fear of biting by tongue off..... 

I had a dental appointment today to replace a filling that had was going to be causing problems if it wasn't replaced. 

They hit me with the Novocaine at around 10am or so.... I still can't feel my tongue (1:20pm) and they advised me not to eat because I would end up biting the **** out of my tongue and inside cheek, because I can't feel them yet... 

This is the second time at this dentist where I have needed the pain killer.....and both times it has lasted for several hours..... it's starting to fade around the edges..... maybe soon...... 

Biting the tongue off? I guess you better know where it is at then.

Attempting to eat something now..... and I have already bitten myself multiply times.. 

this too shall pass.

  Hope it wears off soon. Probably at least partially a mental thing too. If you knew you could eat you might not be as hungry. He must have really loaded you up, 4 hours is a long time to still have those effects.

SHE.... this is a relatively new dentist for our family.... the entire establishment is 100% female....  2 dentists and all the staff..... estrogen .......

My last dentist ...actually all the previous ones were men..... but the last guy.... I liked him. He was a pretty cool character..... But he decided to get drunk one night and straighten out a curve with his car..... he figured that if he took that curve fast enough the laws of physics might not apply and everything would be just fine..... BANG... into a tree at 90MPH+ according to the highway patrol. The fact that he was drunk as a skunk probably saved his life..... but the damage to his arm and hands forced him into retirement. He turned all his patients over to these 2 ladies.... who I must say are easier to look at from 18" away than he was. 

And of course they are gentle and make sure you are comfortable and are not feeling a thing.... so I'm guessing she loaded my jaw with double the juice. It seemed like she kept the hypo in there a really long time..... but maybe that was just psychological.... like how time slows down when somebody holds your head under water and seconds turn into minutes instantly....

Any way..... the stuff is about worn off now.... just a slight tingle left. Thank God I don;t have to deal with that again for a long time (I hope) .... what a way to waste a morning. 

  Yeah the dentist is certainly low on the list of my favorite places to be even if the dentist is cute. The last time they capped a tooth that abcessed only a few weeks after the cap.

 I like when they ask you how it feels 5 minutes after the shot. "well lets see here my lip is laying on the floor and the drool is coming out pretty good now. The big thing laying in my mouth could be my tounge or almost anything chewable, other than that I'm just peachy". Sure beats the alternatives I guess.

Yeah... the option is let it rot... and that tends to hurt really bad and usually doesn't start until Friday around 5:30pm..... that sure makes for a long...long....weekend.  (ask me how I know) 

Normally I don't have work to do, just the 6 month cleaning schedule.... so when this kind of thing happens, I deal with it and move on. 

I have heard of issues like that with caps and root canals.... so far, none of my crowns are giving me issues. 

What I hate is when they have the spit sucker in your mouth and a few other pieces of gear, and they wany to make small talk... all you can say is " awww rawww raww gow in nuh moe see".

Herb it always takes a few hours to wear off at my dentist too.

I had 2 crowns put in on my front teeth. The novacained me so much I couldn' t feel my nose. I Am better now
