I think your just in the different stages of mourning.

1- upset
2- confused
3- still upset

The five stages of grief are:
1-Denial
2-Anger
3-Bargaining
4-Depression
5-Acceptance

You can see different folks in every category here on the forum.

I'm in all of them at once.

I feel sad for the employees too. I've been made redundant just before Xmas on three separate occasions, and it really, really sucks.

Cakewalk had hired a couple great bakers (I think they were from Izotope).
I read this a few months back when they were in the forums explaining the new PRV changes.
They just released Momentum and 3 weeks later shut it down.

That doesn't seem like a "We should have seen the writing on the wall".
That sounds more like they were hiring better engineers to make a better product.

Im just as baffled as anyone of you. but I cant start saying "I blame you" without knowing the whole story.

Ditto.

As I mentioned in another thread, I paid the additional $99 last year for the "lifetime" updates.  As it was, then, $99 per year, I got a second year out of it so I consider I broke even.

As far as Gibson, there is a "rumor post" on another forum, that the "rumor is" Fender is considering buying Gibson.   There was even a photoshopped picture of a Les Paul with a Fender key head.  I don't know how valid this "rumor" is, but as Fender has been buying up or buying the distributor rights to other brands (they did it a year or so a go with Gretsch) it may be a legitimate rumor........... I saw on the Nashville Tennessean on line newspaper that Gibson was selling a warehouse in Nashville and I've seen on a couple of sites that Gibson is closing the Memphis operation (makes hollow body electrics).

Cakewalk developers and userbase had/have passionate relationship with SONAR. The product is awesome and has required enormous work of great engineering and thinking and it may be lost gradually if codebase is no more maintained.

I feel SONAR is bigger thing than just an item in large company's catalog. Gibson as a corporation does not have feelings and they have to evaluate things on financial basis. I accept that but I'm still sad about how this happened. With different leaders inside the company we'd be now using SONAR 11.2017 and looking forward to see what cool features Bakers have been developed for the next year.

Last time I checked my copy of SPlat still works .

My Heart goes out to all the Cakewalk employees that have made SONAR The Awesome DAW that it is...
I sincerely hope they can weather the Storm and land on dry ground ...

As far as Gibson goes I'm pissed ...
I'm not pissed enough to burn my Gibson Guitars in my Fireplace in Protest

My wallet in now closed for any thing that involves a current Management / Era Gibson Product
