In an interesting aside, when I wuz in Germany, the local bands would sing  American music faithfully, even with the mis-pronounciations .

Narry a hint of Der Deutches

Peter Gabriel sounds English.

If you really want a total lack of Transatlantic twang, try Dick Gaughan;

or Christy Moore

I love the singing of Dick Gaughan. Like many folk singers, I don't agree with his politics but really feel his music. I remember reading, some time ago, an article which outlined how the gospel singing style originated in Scotland and was brought to America via Scottish plantation owners. The more I listen to traditional Scottish singers like Gaughan the more I believe this...you can hear how the melodic ornamentation they use has influenced today's popular singing styles via gospel and the blues. Here's an example...

I never thought Asians (you know, ornamentals) were all that melodic.

the first link brings up a video that says it's Mark Knopfler - Why Eye Man.  is that actually Gaughan singing?  kind of sounds like Knopfler at least in places.
