So Ive spent the last day on the road.  Come home to relax, enjoy a lil coffee house chatter and mess with Sonar.

I try to make it a point to try and spend time tweaking and learning how to use 1 thing at a time, like say Channel Tools and everything I can do and use it for.

Unfortunately my mouse always wants to play games with me.

I have a Dell Studio XPS that works great for the most part and have had very little troubles that I am aware of with it and X1.

My problem today (and intermittently throughout since the install of Sonar) is that the mouse looses operation, connection, or ????  who knows.  The movement will get jumpy and the led light on the bottom shuts off and it stops working. I have to continually unplug it from the computer to get it going again.  IRRITATING it is

Ive tried to find other Dell users with this problem but have been unsuccessful.

I dont believe it has anything to do with Sonar and dont have another mouse to swap out-Ughhhhh

OK  all done venting-As you were

Mike - not really related to your problem but I like to plug whenever given the chance.
I have used a trackball for the last few years and it rules - really easy on the wrist after hours of working and requires less desk space. Just thought I'd share :)

I need to try out a trackball- thanks for the reminder Daryl....and it may
be an OS issue...I've seen weird stuff with mine since using Windows 7 but your's
isn't listed....

I thought about installing my wireless mouse and KB but really dont want it added on the system.  Just a strange fluke with my setup I guess.

I think eventually Ill get another plug in one and see what happens

Drivers are all up to date on the individual things so Im not sure what its doing.  Maybe something to do with the USB ports but then it only effects the mouse-nothing else

If it's USB, you can try it on another port.

Ive tried almost all the ports,

It does follow the mouse but doesnt effect other USB driven things.

Makes me kinda think its the mouse

Weird unplug & replug and it might work good for a minute, a day, or a week or longer then it pops back up again

Yes, it sounds like it's time for a new one.  At least they're fairly inexpensive.

I use a Kensington "Scroll Mouse" trackball thingy (or whatever it's called). They are REALLY expensive (like $100 last I checked) but are AWESOME!

Great for finite stuff and video games and personally I think they are far better for avoiding computer related hand stress... which is obviously particularly important for us music folk.

Also they save on deskspace. Even though they are FAR bigger then a mouse they are stationary so you don't need to clear a space for spastic hand movements.

Personally I think mice are a TERRIBLE concept and I'm surprised they ended up the standard HID.

Who'd a thought

So I went down and dug out the old wireless and installed everything and threw the Dell mouse in the drawer.

Heres what I observed

Everything mouse wise appears to be working great at this time.

The thing that gets me is-
Ive been trying to get a grasp on Channel Tools
Nothing has been consistent as far as operation, sound, etc... with this plug-in.  It was driving me crazy cause Ive seen and herd it work for others and mine was not at all in line with what I was seeing theirs was doing.
Now Channel Tools when inserted on a buss does worlds different.

It doesnt make any sense that a bad mouse, if thats what it was, would cause the software in Sonar to act improperly-Would it?

Cant wait to see if this all holds up
