  • Oof. I'm getting burnt out on writing solos for this song...

I've probably put in ten hours or more hammering out leads for a less than four minute song... and I still have another minute to put down. It's quality stuff but I think I might be being a little too OCD on this one. :-/

I usually take at least ten days to create leads for a four minute song as well.  Oh wait, you said only ten hours?  Wow...  You're a lot better than I am!

Heh... well that's been spread out over a week or so. Twists up my back and noodle if I go too nutty for more than a couple hours a night... especially at high velocities further up the neck.

Art only happens through hard work...

Or by accident

Keep at it Beep, it'll be worth it when the groupies show up at your door with a keg of beer.

Or when you post it in the songs forum

Yeah...  Those 128th triplets at 196bpm can really start to tire you out after a few hours!

can't wait to hear it beep. OCD can be helpful in making a quality song.

Ooof. I've always tried my best to avoid groupies. Mind you a few sneaky ones snuck under my radar and ended up as girlfriends.

We don't talk about those mistakes. :-/

and yeah... this is probably some of the fastest soloing I've ever done. Sounds cool... pain in the beeples to record though. I guess this is what happens when guitar nerds have access to studio gear and unlimited time on their hands. lulz

Oh and TH2 is a freaking godsend. What an awesome sounding sim. Very very happy with it.

Burn out usually occurs in the creation process when you've missed something you're not happy with and keep going through it. Sometimes you have to leave it alone and then listen to it again.... later. Songs evolve, the song you wrote last year will feel different now, because you have changed. The equipment has changed. Eventually the intent will change, as you change. If you've gone to the point of OCD on it, then there's something else on your mind you need to resolve first.

@crg... I agree with that. Fortunately I'm pretty happy with what's down so far. I just couldn't seem to muster up the inspiration to come up with a decent segway into the next portion of the song (the outro). And yes I definitely have other things on my mind at the moment. The segway will need to be tastefully done to transition into the slower outro part. Once I'm past this hump it will be "easier" as it's gonna be less technique and more feel... however one needs their soul aligned properly to achieve feeling. I'm letting it sit for tonight and perhaps again tomorrow but I'm quite anxious to get it mixed and posted. I've got other mayhem to dork up after this. ;-)
