WOW

I wonder how quickly I could zap 7Tb's of data with one of those.

(Are you sure?)

I've got all the UAD plugs. Will that do it?

It should do, whilst adding some 'musical sounding' warmth and colour to the newly emptied drives.

I added some musical sounding warmth and colour to the ambience of this room when I discovered this drive was starting to fail without using any UAD plugs though.

One day, I'll be able to afford some sort of NAS with big storage... in the meantime, I use "unboxed" SATA drives and this interface:

Not as elegant as some solutions, but it lets me back up to more than one drive without too much trouble.  So far, so good...

I have seen the Glyph drives advertised in some of the music mags I read. I can't speak to their quality, however, they are not the cheapest ones around..... if the saying that you get what you pay for holds true with these, they should be pretty decent and reliable.

I don't know what's up with new drives, they seem to be made to fail after a couple years.

Meanwhile, I have an ago old file server that we stream movies and music from here in the house, it's pretty much streaming something all night and day or else it's downloading at night when we sleep, it's never turned off.

It's been sitting in my closet for at least 10 years now, just keeps on rocking even though it gets hammered pretty much non-stop.

EDIT: freakin tabs grrr, replied to an old post

That is so frustrating... you certainly seem calm, I guess there is nothing you can do aside from just go with what you get. It is OK for grown men to cry.
