If you don't know which one you need and you don't do much except go to face book and email which one is the better choice? It's a question  I was asked but didn't have an answer. Thanks for any advise! This person made me dinner last night so I feel obligated to provide such information, being a gentleman and all.

For Facebook and email would definitely go for an iPad or even a smart phone such as an iPhone.

Apparently sales of laptops have dropped for the first time in a decade cos people are just buying the aforementioned.
Personally I'd buy a new guitar and not bother with social communication : )

ipad mini is on the way..   If all you are doing is going to facebook, and answering email..  You do not need a Laptop...

A laptop is now, "strictly for people who need power and mobility."  If you don't need mobility you might as well get a desktop.  If you don't need power, you might as well get a tablet.

If for some odd reason, you need power, and not mobility, but lack space...  Than I reckon you can get a laptop too.

Within short order, I am expecting 8 core tablets.  Tumbling cost of cloud services.  And wi-fi monitoring solutions.   Ergo, if I had an 8 core tablet, 10 terabytes of data @ $20 a year, and a 27 inch wi-fi monitor..   Than I would produce music like that...

No desktop, no laptop.  Windows 8 baby!!  It runs the desktop software, and that is all that matters.

Yuh. iPad.  Or whichever tablet floats yer boat.  My preference is the iPad for the screen resolution (which makes typing infinitely easier as well as viewing) and the sheer volume of available apps that actually work with the device.  I am not knocking other devices.  I have been tempted by plenty, but seem to keep going back to the iStuff.

I love my Ipad2..............

But when you say "E-mail"..........be very careful and really think about how you are going to use your e-mail. Remember you cannot do a physical download of many files to an Ipad. So if you are receiving attachments of various types, you may be limited on your Ipad. There are work arounds, etc.
But it is not the same as a PC or Android product.

This being said, my wife just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
Within 2 days it went back to the store, and she bought an Ipad3
There was just no comparison in the 2.

We have been so pleased with our Apple products.......(2/Ipod Touch's,2/ I-phones and 2/Ipad's.)

We are thinking our next computer will likely be a Mac.

I'm pretty much ready to move on from Microsoft products.

Samsung is not a microsoft product..  lol..  and Android is a google product...  When it comes to phones and tablets, I think apple is still a great company...  as for desktops and laptops..   It can be argued that Microsoft has some strengths and Apple has some weaknesses, and vice versa...

I want to see what these Microsoft Tablets are like.  I am also interested in Hewlett Packard Win8 tablets..  obviously, "intel chips."
But I run from anything Samsung, or Android ( Google. )
