so would you use for example stylus patterns with Battery Kits ? It that's the case they could compliment one another ? I would like to know casue I am thinking about stylus. thanks
If you are thinking of getting
Stylus but do not already know this it has
250 drum kits of which at least
65+ are Hip Hop + RNB specific. Of course the kits are just starting points, as you can tweak the sounds
way beyond their default state and save that as
another kit building up your own individual kit library that can be easily reloaded back in to RMX.
To the left of the image...
the
Bedroom kit is already loaded. That kit is from the
Urban RnB kits list. There is another list with
Vintage Hip Hop drum kits. But with drums one can be very experimental so you could easily expand your kit use even further in RMX by trying out the other drums sounds that ship with RMX without changing the kit. Simply click on the folder icon (next to the sound name) and you will be able to choose by kicks or snare e.t.c and sound type.
In this image...
...I have clicked on the
KICKS - Urban suite, and on the right in the
Elements browser, it shows some (I would have to scroll down to reveal the full list) of the Kick sounds that are ideal for Urban RnB usage. As you can see there is plenty of choice but that is just for
Kicks, you have a similar choice for
Snares, Claps, Hi hats e.t.c
Again you can easily take these individual sounds beyond their default state by using the 27 onboard FX ...
Tube Limiter, Tape Slammer, Modern and Vintage Compressors, Wah-Wah, Power Filter, 6 different Vintage/Parametric/Graphic Equalizers, Flame Distortion, Valve Radio, PRO-Verb, EZ-Verb, Spring Verb, Gate Expander, Stereo Imager, Flanger, 2 different Phasers, 3 BPM Delays, Retroplex Tape Delay and Radio Delay ...which are very drum specific or the other extensive sound tweaking features RMX offers.
I just thought you might not yet be aware of the extensive drum kits RMX already offers. You will also get
9 hours of tutorial videos and a huge reference manual that is easily accessible from RMX. Even if you are more interested in other genres, Stylus still has a very wide choice of kits to choose from.
My point is...you might want to at the very least explore all RMX has to offer before looking at Battery but...
...if you prefer to use both apps then by all means go that route. An RMX + Battery combo may very well suite your workflow better, but then again you may not need two drum plugs.
Up to you really. Battery and RMX are very capable plugs when used alone or together in any host.
