For the moment, I was planning on removing my Projects HDD & Samples HDD from the older machine and just installing them in the new build. Are there any things that I should be looking out for in this transition?

Install the OS and everything but the DAW software.  Get the OS updated done, hardware configured.  Then add the drives to the computer and install the DAW.

I fat fingered on an installation and wiped out my data drive.  Now I disconnect everything except the drive I install on.  Once I get the OS and drivers installed and updated, I plug in the rest of the drives.

Thanks JJ......will do.
After the drivers and OS installation, I was planning on running SiSoft. If all goes well, I'll then start adding all the other drives/software. Would this be a recommended order in doing things?

There's a slight delay in my build due to a mistake I made when ordering my cooler (NH-D14). I mistakenly ordered the se2011 model...........the difference is only in the mounting system which fits the LGA 2011 board (my board is socket 1155). However, Noctua's customer service is really good and they're shipping me a free mounting kit (at least now I'll have PWM speed control when having the se2011).

In the meantime, I went ahead and also ordered the NZXT IU01 internal USB expansion (thanks to Mike's recommendation ).
 ......to be continued....

Yeah, I only installed, well lets say 'connected' the OS drive first, went about it the way JJ stated and ran a stability check and memtest.
Then I connected the remaining drives and installed my drivers, software and whatnot.
Then ran more tests.
Then played with some lite OC'ing and ran many tests.

What did you use for the stability test?

And how did you get the color in your signature?

I seem to like AIDA 64 for my testing (mostly because I'm used to it) but Scott from ADK recommends Sisoft Sandra burn in. Both work well.

And in the user control panel, under signature while typing in your sig you'll see at the top of the dialog box the letter "A". Next to that is a little pull down arrow that will allow you to choose a font color.

EDIT: I just looked....Seems that the option is no longer there. hmmm.

Done!!!
It's so pleasant to work on a machine that's quick, snappy, smooth, and efficient (I think it boots up to Windows in something like 6 seconds...WOW!! (my old machine took about a minute or 2 to boot)). I'm really happy with this build and now looking forward to using it in X2/games. I had to return the HIS graphics card as it was DOA, but will be replacing it with an identical card.

I'm currently going through the tedious process of installing all my software and trying to keep everything organized/clean.
Thanks to everyone who helped and advised me (especially Mike) through this process, I truly appreciate it.....(I'm sure I'll run into some issues in the future and will ask you guys again :)).

Congrats.
Completing your first build is a great feeling for sure.
I am still amazed at the boot up speed and load times of programs.

Enjoy

It's one that's intended for overclocking and made easy for the user to do so by altering some parameter in the BIOS settings.  The "k" at the end of the model number distinguishes it from the regular version of the same chip.
