I will however point out the shortcomings of Microsoft. Windows sucks. There I said it. Having to keep your OS locked down to keep some fool in Redmond, Washington from getting it pregnant with corporate induced bugs or from contracting some digitally transmitted disease just seems plain stupid. And I won't enter into the conversation of which is a better recording platform. I like Sonar. It's Windows and Microsoft I detest.
There I've said it.....
The OP's reason stated for switching is because of security issues- that's how I read it -correct
me if I'm wrong. It just seems plain stupid to him dealing with it and Microsoft.
What I find stupid is that people will use a computer for the internet that they also use for
personal functions that are important to them and easily have a lot of money invested into it. Now that is stupid IMO and just to bad if it offends anybody...not my intention to offend.
When one uses a cheap machine with free protection for the internet stuff- so what if it gets
infected? Wipe it and start over. If it hit the BIOS and going to be a big hassle...trash it and get
another piece of junk computer to surf. ( junk computers are plenty good enough for that)
One thinking that switching from one to the other will solve the problem the OP stated is rediculous.
Do I worry about infections from the internet? NO. Not one good reason to.
Do I worry about infections from the internet on my recording PC? NO. It isn't used to surf. Microsoft
is done when I got it and decided to load it/prepare it for recording.
Do I worry about personal information because it's on a PC? NO. If I used one that would
contain personal information it would be set-up for that and that only.
For the record...I practice what I preach and sorry if it seems I'm on a box...
My internet PC is over 8yrs old and has never had an infection. It was originally one of my recording
PC's and was recently wiped to clean it ...and it has two functions- to handle internet use and mail. It is the only PC in my house that gets mail. (You should know why) ...oh...and music. The second hard
drive is where I copy all my CD's that I like to listen to.
You don't address the internet infection problem by using a PC or Mac. That's just rediculous.
It's simple to address and shouldn't be an issue or concern at all......especially with your recording
unit.
Well it seemed that this effort may help some....especially after some of the statements made...
but it seems "old hat" so maybe it won't.
