Indeed--and it always happens when you get the solder joint perfect the first time and that's what you have to undo.  

I'm using a needle point iron, solder paste and a head magnifier*











*Before anyone sezit...  that's a head mounted magnifier, my head is big enough already..

Even if I was the grommet would stay off and I'd likely botch some sort of strain-reliever with a hot glue gun.
 
Not that it has ever happened to me, you understand.
 
Oh, no.

It's a lot quicker to remove than it was to glue solder it on.

I did something even stupider than that!

I was putting in a patch panel between my "studio" room and the closet to the room adjacent to it so I could use that closet as a vocal booth.  I had 2 panels, one for the wall on the studio side and one for the wall on the closet side.  each panel had 2 XLR and 2 TRS connectors on them.  I soldered 4 cables between the 2 panels......

BEFORE I routed the cable between the walls.

I've got married once and forgot I had to have an apartment and job first

yep.  I felt REALLY stupid.  I had to desolder one panel, route the cables thru the wall and then resolder.  I was SO mad at myself!
