I got the "poor mans" Ribbon, the MXL R144 and Tender Mercies self titled CD... I feel better now. I always feel better when I get a new toy or two AND... I have decided on the electronic drumkit I am going to get. The Alesis DM8 Studio from Sweetwater. I like the larger pads on the Yamaha but the snare on the DM has three zones and they both have a full range high hat, so I am going to save 200 bucks with the Alesis. The snare is 7.5" on the DM and 10" on the Yammy... for a grand I can get a 12" snare but since I am not a drummer, I think this will work fine.. and I get rimshots!
Am I making a mistake? I checked and either will do their own thing or trigger EXDrummer/BFD/SD3... so I should be good, or bad, as the case may be. In any case, I know a great drummer in Athens... if I sound like the wind rattling dead tree limbs.
