This book is calling me.

It's by David Byrne, anyone here taken a look yet?

I glanced through it in an airport bookstore.  I viewed it as an entertaining look at his history more than anything else.  His views of the biz are, obviously, drawn from his own history and experiences.  My take on an incomplete skim through the book was that the success of Talking Heads was as much a mystery to David as anyone.

Hearing from someone who actually read the book would be better, though.

To me, it would just state the obvious ...

But then again, I'm a bit of a **** and probably am missing the entire point to the book ...

Personally, I'd rather put the $20 bucks to new strings, save up for a new piece of gear ... something along those lines. Maybe a new outlet for my 400amp circuit I'm running for my 10,000watt amp in my new basement.

But I'm not a big reader. Puts me right out.

I read This Is Your Brain On Music recently, gives a technical insight into how our brains perceive music. It's a fantastic read and very interesting. Gets panned a little in the reviews by academic egg heads who have their own theories, but as a layman (i.e. someone who knows very little about brains) it was a real eye opener.

No book is going to call me. Remember the music you don't actually like to hear. It may also be in your neighborhood with bass speakers driving by or at a stoplight with bass speakers passing by.

Right now I'm reading 'How the Federal Reserve Works'.

then the sequel: 'How the Federal Reserve Really Works'.

next on my list is: 'How Music Works'.

Of course once you read 'How the Federal Reserve Really Works' you are assassinated.
