I added some lengthy comments. Someone said I was creating content for SONAR to line my own pockets. Total BS. I never made anything from content contributed after Gibson bought Cakewalk. I never even got a penny for "The Big Book of SONAR Tips," which was done on my own time over Thanksgiving vacation in 2016.

I also included a few comments on ideas I had proposed that were rejected. Although obviously I can't see the future, in my heart of hearts I believe that if Cakewalk had done in-app purchases for add-ons, and initiated a secondary income stream based on content, the company would still be here today.

It is really getting tiresome sitting around with your thumb up your a*s waiting for Cakewalk to finally start explaining to their loyal customers that believed in the company and software. It seems that we were only good for buying things and now are being treated like strangers.
This is not the way to treat people.

You really expect unemployed people to come here to answer questions they probably don't know.  I'm guessing that everyone of them is more concerned about finding a job than being bombarded with anger over a situation they are just as much a victim of.  I understand hour frustration but the bakers are among the least culpable in this situation. Any skeleton cakewalk crew they may have are probably slammed creating solution to patch existing software so they can eventually cut server.

Uh, Cakewalk really doesn't exist now - why would you expect anyone from the company to come in here and explain anything to you now.

Exactly.  The company is, for all intent and purposes, gone.  Two employees have remained for the time being to keep the servers going, but who knows how long even that will be?

That Reddit post may be the only "insider's account" (other than Craig's) we will ever see.

I would think that after 30 years being in the company that there would be a little respect for the people that bought their products and stayed with them as long as they have (Gibson/Cakewalk). Also knowing you here on the forum, I know you also expect and also give respect. Without respect you are nothing. I personally would love to hear that Gibson has to pull the plug and end up in litigation for quite a few years. I think they deserve it.

Dan, these folks just got their walking papers right around the holidays (here in the states).  Their concerns, understandably, are going to be about themselves, their job situation, and their families.  The CW employees were likely as blindsided as we were, and frankly, they don't owe us a thing.

Now if you're talking about Gibson... Well, I wouldn't hold my breath.

To sum up: Cakewalk's demise was all due to internal politics and misguided managers.

Cakewalk did come in here - the Announcement that is stickied at the top of this forum.  They didn't have to do that.  Gibson posted a press release with the news.

I am sorry you feel disrespected, but really, you and I the rest of the users are probably the least impacted people in all of this.

All due?  That would suggest that CW imploded, through no fault of Gibson.  Unless you meant internal politics of Gibson...

Maybe someone from Cakewalk will come later to the forum to thank Sonar customers for all these years. That's something what I would do. It's the little things that matter, etc.
