Dress appropriately......it's going to be a Stormy Monday and Mud Flap Momma (aka the Queen) might give you the Third Degree if you're not Standing on A Higher Ground.

That seems like some Theme For An Imaginary Western to me.

The thing with flourescent lights that caused noise in music equipment and microphones was the type of transformers-called ballasts- that they used. The type of voltage and the frequency of the output of those ballasts was the culprit. Much of the newer stuff is much cleaner but still iffy. The small bulbs you are talking about are considerably lower in voltage. They might not be noticable. I can hear them and thus don't use them. While creating music, you may run into harmonics bleed problems with them.

I wish I knew more details about LED lighting and if they created any line noise. That's what I'm thinking of running at home in my new play area.

They are expensive, but come with a very long warranty, and the thing I like most is, they run very cool. Essential with a DAW, Amp, 300lb guy, and all kinds of gear running in a tiny room.

The Maillard Reaction
My whole music building is lit with LEDs.

Each time I replace one of our house bulbs with a tungsten that I have left over I think, "Jiminy crickets... I could throw this brand new tungsten bulb in the trash right this second and save money"

It seems like LED household bulbs have finally come of age and the price is covered by the energy cost saving in less than a year if you use the light frequently. After they are paid for by the energy savings you should get many more years of use while continuing to save money on energy.

The irony is that gifting my N.O.S. tungsten bulbs to someone who can't afford to purchase the LEDs perpetuates the fact that they are spending so much on energy that they can't afford to purchase the LEDs. So I'd rather toss 'em out.

It's a catch22.

My music building uses only 25% of the amperage the lights use to draw and it has just as much if not just a bit more light than was made by the tungsten bulbs using 4x the power.

Plus they run cooler so the AC runs cheaper.

It's no brainer even if you just buy one or two $10 LED bulbs at a time and slowly make the transition. Eventually you'll get to the point where you look at your last few tungstens and think the same thoughts I've been having. It's cheaper to throw them out than use them.

best regards,
mike
