Where's the post? I'd like to read it.
Here ya go Craig.
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/762183-my-windows-7-vs-windows-8-dawbench-results-4.html Jose was basically highlighting the differences brought up here in relation to Windows 8 performance in contrast to figures noted by Noel on the Cakewalk blog.
None of it is conclusive one way or the other as yet other than the fact that Windows 8 isn't looking that promising as a DAW platform thus far. If you have a well configured system already it's not even a concern.
8 has not yet been released to the public as yet and by the time Service pack 1 comes out who knows what issues may have been addressed or have even got worse.
It's just the same ol' angst that comes along with every OS release.
Here what Mike described as a real digital audio engineer, is looking at results posted after testing Cubase on a PCI card on Windows 8 and comparing those with X2 which is likely to be leveraging some specific Windows 8 changes after a promised update to X2 specifically after the new OS is released.
It would have to be like for like to be a meaningful comparison, and besides my system, along with many others running on a W7 platform, is running like a dream and there's no obligation to migrate to the new OS anytime soon.
It wouldn't have got much attention upstairs merely 'cause it was really one for the 'Computers' section.
