I got it last night and so far so good. I'm really liking X2 so far.

I still need to format and do a fresh install of everything, but when I saw the QF come out yesterday, I tried it for kicks and giggles.

I don't think PRV is working properly, or maybe it's the way it's supposed to be and I just don't know how to use it. I inserted a synth, edited the midi in PRV, clicked on some other stuff, was tinkering around, came back to PRV on that track, and I couldn't touch any of the notes to edit them. I made sure the clip was highlighted, and the track, still didn't work. I even closed PRV, and reopened by right clicking on the clip and that didn't work either. I had to do a bounce to clip function and then I could edit that track in PRV again. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be? If it is, I don't care for it. You would think that whenever you open up any clip in PRV, you would be able to add/change/delete/move the notes ...

I still can't get the Bus Console EMU to work either. Channel Console EMU works fine.

But I do have to say, so far I'm really liking X2. I can't wait to get settled in to the new place and get a studio set up and put it through a real world scenario.

Correction, the Bus Console EMU is working. It's effects are much more subtle than the Channel version. I had to turn it to A-Type and set Drive to 6db before I could hear any difference, but it was there. Seems to work better on some material than others.

The biggest effect I've heard from the console emu so far has been on string ensembles. Don't know why.

That sounds like a good sign to me.

Consoles were never designed to be 'sound mangling' devices, the idea of an emulation would be to introduce a subtle colouration effect on anything that would be passing through each console channel.

Thing about strings is that they are complex waveforms over wide frequency range which is likely just where you'd want the effects of a console emulation to show up.

The technique also works well on multi-stem sub-mixes where the cumulative effect of each channel can work to make each of the individual parts belong together as a whole.

It's unlikely you would hear much of a difference when passing a signal through a real console channel which ought to give a clue into the amount of effect you'd likely be applying to an individual stem.

That's exactly what I was trying it out on. I started a new project using the Cakewalk SI Strings and used it on it.

So far, I'm really liking X2. It's running really well on my system ... and ya know what's funny (not in a ha ha kind of way), it's the same DAW that X1 brought to it's knee's! I haven't even had a chance to format yet ... I still have 8.5 32/64 and X1 32/64 on my system.
