Interesting article on White Good appliances

We bought new kitchen appliances when we remodeled 2-1/2 years ago.

The dishwasher is dead, we found out most of the series were recalled but not ours, and the repair estimate equals replacement cost.

I remember how disappointed I was when we shopped that no one could tell us anything about the quality of construction. The cost was related to features and not quality.

We used our local mom and pop shop and assumed that at the very least we'd have good service options... but we don't.

So now I'm shopping for a new dish washer... maybe one that will live for 5 years or more and I'm feeling the same sense of dismay.

In fact we are finding some vendors will not even quote a factory warranty period or provide details but they are happy to offer an extended warranty package.

Here's an article that sums up everything I have come to suspect... yuck.

I thought someone else might find it interesting.

best regards,
mike

Just make sure the next one has varispeed and you should be OK  .....I'm sorry but I simply have no control...I was born this way. Nothing personal

you are correct everything purchased today is pretty much guaranteed to fail in 5 years.

Can you not patch it up with more durable bicycle parts Mike?

Thanks for flagging this up for interest btw, my Saturday night looked like a mundane prospect until I saw this.

Wow, built in obsolecence, I'd never heard of such a thing before. What a novel concept.
