I am giving my DAT machine to a friend of Old55.

Then I realized that I never really properly converted all my DAT masters to 16/44.1 WAV masters.

My DAW will be busy for the next 8 hours. Ya I have 8 hours of recorded material from both my Tascam 80-8 days or my 24 track Alesis ADAT/X2 Console days.

What you going to convert them with?

Recording them in SONAR (as we speak).

While we're back on the subject, are there different kinds of DAT tape?

Tom said he'd send me his old machine in that other thread, but I don't want to waste his time if I can't use it.

I can't find mine, they are buried in a mountain of boxes at the moment. They were really small, about 1/2 or 1/3 size of a cassette and expensive as all *BLANK*.

Were there different kinds, such as the difference between VHS and BETA-MAX or is a DAT tape a DAT tape period?

AFAIK there was only one type of DAT tape approx 2 1/4" x 3". And there were no differences in players.

Mooch will tell you I'm wrong though.
