bapu - I am one of the supporters of that initiative and I have submitted that request myself.

Maybe what is needed is the entire community to get 100% behind one initiative at a time.

I nominate mine to be the first one.

So my question is this:  "do you think that cakewalk has really listened to the customers?

discuss

I mounted an effort to get the specific drum map solo bug/pi$$ poor operation into the fix queue.

I posted a fred in the X1 forum calling for people to submit a bug report just like I did.

IIRC at least 25 people said they submitted one too.

The bug/pi$$ poor operation is still there in X2 (I confirmed it yesterday).

And......... I have never even heard back from CW on the status of my bug report.

Define "listen".
So is that in any of the videos that BikerBoy made?

I hardly doubt my input had anything to do with it but I squawked a bit about how crappy the layers were and BOOM... take lanes. Also having the playback wonk out when trying to make adjustments on certain heavy duty plugs infuriated me. It's really hard to set things properly when the sound is dropping out. Now, supposedly, that won't be happening as much. I'm also hoping the automation improvements make it easier to work with. I've only messed with a few volume envelope thingies but it was WAY sillier and seemingly random than what I'd like. I've seen a lot of people squeaking about PRV input being weird and buggy and it sounds like that got fixed. IDK... there will always be things to improve but Cake seems to at least make an effort. As far as them brushing certain topics off I kind of don't blame them. Some folks here get really abusive towards the staff. There is really only so many times you can say "Sorry, we're not currently working on that". Also in a lot of cases their hands are likely tied by Roland in regards to development budgets. They really should get a quality staff view thingy going though. Even if it's a paid add on. Just my thoughts on it... but I'm kind of an idiot so whatevs. ;-)

Listen? Yes.

Respond effectively?  Debateable.

btw How's the Rewire routing on X2?  Can we get what is listed as a stereo in that is actually stereo yet?  After how many years and how many requests?

Most DAW's have listened to the idea the VST3 is wanted, whether you want it or not pretty much everything else has it supported already.

Variable tempo for audio so it doesn't de-laminate from your midi when you change speed.

Take lanes are here but I've already been enjoying them for a couple of years now.

Sonar is no longer the breakthrough DAW, on the contrary it has difficulty keeping up IMO.

It is though probably the most capable all-rounder still when some of the quality issues it has had for years are not getting in the way.  It also does seem to be slowly coming back round especially after the X series launch debacle.

I hope so because I still enjoy using it.

Beeps.

Requests, demands, pleading, whining, or offers to sell children or our bodies to get things included/fixed/improved were going on long before Roland took over. I seriously doubt Roland is a *major* factor in development priorities.

beep - take lanes have been on the list of complaints upstairs long before you arrived, so I doubt it was your voice alone which prompted that.  (no offense intended - just stating facts).

regarding your problems with dropouts - that would be frustrating, but usually can be overcome with troubleshooting the settings in sonar.  have you worked with anyone on the forum or tech support to try to get those settings corrected for your soundcard?

I agree that upstairs they get abusive to the staff and to others trying to help as well.

MIDI improvements is another area which has been complained about for a long time and loudly by a lot of folks on the upper forum, but nothing has really been done about that.

as far as Roland goes, cake staff keeps stating that roland doesn't have anything to do with their every day operations.  they are still an "independent company" under the roland sheild.  so it would seem that roland does not give them a budget, but they operate on their own budget as before the roland takeover "partnership."

also, beepster, could I suggest that you don't use FF if you aren't going to hard code the paragraph returns?  it's very difficult to read your reply without breaks.
