Everybody thinks guns are dangerous..... they are not. The person with the gun in their hands determines what the gun does.
At sanctioned shoots like this one... and many other gun events...SAFETY is the #1 rule.
Being the shooting enthusiast that I am, I know several range instructors who have stated that civilians are more aware of gun safety than the so called professionals in law enforcement. One told me point blank in a conversation in a gun shop that he never goes to a police qualification session without wearing his kevlar vest.
At just about every range and event of any sort that is an officially sanctioned event, ANY infraction of any safety rule is cause enough to be thrown out. Unintentional discharge of a weapon is totally, 100% preventable and there are NO excuses.
This story happened just the other day.....
http://www.cbsnews.com/83...cidentally-discharged/ BTW.... the firearm was a revolver.... double action ...with a fairly firm trigger pull.... you had to really be a screw-up to fire that weapon "accidentally" but that law enforcement officer managed to do it supposedly while "unloading" the gun...... I'd bet that the female flight attendant would have been able to unload it safely..... wadda ya think?
