I thought as much Daryl and ran with it....Cake needs to focus
on making it fun to use Sonar.

It's a pain in my ass to use. Not only it but we have to deal with
Microsoft, drivers, updates etc.  on and on and on.....and after seeing X2
I've determined after this it's just a milking. I could be wrong and that is
exactly why I posted.
Maybe somebody can see them doing something to blow our socks off...I don't
see it.

I see that they've created a loop and now it's just going to be making changes
only for the milking.

More power? Don't need it.
Better audio?  Don't need it.

I can't think of anything more that would add value...except fun..fun on the recording side not the playing. (just in case)

I can imagine being in a virtual recording studio that may actually be more fun than
playing the instruments. And if those two were together....unreal. I could get lost in it
for days.

Ok....not wondering anymore. Realized I really didn't care and how could
anybody beat a virtual reality recording studio....like Lawnmower Man...something
would probably go bad wrong anyway. People can screw up anything.
Probably be my luck I'd be all into the virtual thing and the Sonar bugs would be
something that would ooozzz out of my monitors and take all my guitars and stuff and list
them on Ebay.

Well at least now I feel a little better about still having to use a keyboard and mouse...and
look forward to more cowbell options.

Hang in there Spacey. There's nothing wrong with sitting out a dance or two and there's certainly a lot going on with computers. I'm not jumping on X2 until the first patch or two has been released. I also want to see how the windows 8 thing shakes out.

I still haven't used many of X1's features and never will, so for me it's all about reliability and ease of use. When I get a DAW that's a rugged as my tascam I'll be a happy camper and stop chasing the dream.

I am John. Been hangin in for to many years without growling.

Exactly Mike!

You guys know we've been in the birth of this digital world and these guys obviously
need a wake-up call.
For Christ sakes man...they're still trying to work out snap to grid!

I think they need to hire some Disney cats and get the show on the road...would be
nice to see some real progress before I die.

And don't think I'm kidding. Just think how many years we've been going around
with them getting their buttons to do some simple tasks.

You guys know as well as I do....it's all about money. They get as little done with minimal
resources to keep cost low and profit high. It's time for them to focus and get real because
I for one will not let them keep milking me...ESPECIAlLLY now that I really don't need them....well after they kill whatever bugs are in X2.

And if there were more thinkers like me then there would be some action. Yeah, the technology is here.....we just need the trailblazers to go with it.
They are honestly starting to handle this just like the medical field does on solving issues....
the "answer" is how to get the profit with the least effort....and man is the writing on the wall.

since I'm all but positive that X2 will be my last upgrade...

I hate ask but, how many times have you said this before?

If it's varispeed Dulcimer modeling. McQ is in.

OK, seriously.....

Did I "need" what's in X2? No.

Do I like what's in X2. Yes.

If I were a commercial studio the answer to the first question would be yes. And then some.

As a hobbyist I find I can do all I've wanted to do in 8.5.3, X1 and X2. X1 and X2 improved my ability to do some things faster/easier but again as a home hobbyist it's not crucial that I have those capabilities close at hand. It's nice they are there.

since I'm all but positive that X2 will be my last upgrade...
wondering what could be offered for the future of DAW's
that could change my outlook?

Still on 8.53 here, it does all the things I (and clients) need

Craig I started with Guitar Studio 1 then
Guitar Studio 2
Guitar Studio Pro 2
Guitar Tracks Pro 3
Sonar 5,6,7, 8.5
X1 and now X2.

This is the first time I've thought about drawing the line and most certain
that I have.

Now don't get me wrong...I am not on a crusade. I'm spilling my guts. I have the right.
I've put up with them for over 12 years expecting to get
a program that would let me do 2 things. Process audio and midi.

The time has come as I mentioned earlier....I think it has finally happened.
I do think that when whatever bugs X2 has and they correct them then I will
have a computer and program that will do exactly what I want to do.

Now I find it horrible that it took this long and it's not just the evolution of Cakes stuff...
it's the computers and everything about them that has had issues from the day I started.
Update this, upgrade that, buy a new PC for power to do it....change everything because
the OS changed...on and on and on .....all just to get to where I am. It'll work now.

Realizing that it seems like I finally got what I set out to get was in the least...strange.

That is what made me wonder; What next? No reason for me to just give money away for
stuff I don't need. What can they do to grab me?
That is why I seriously think....well they are going to have to come up with something that'll be very special.

I don't know if anybody will understand me and it really doesn't matter but....if I'm right
then we're either grinding to a bells and whistles marketing or something really fantastic
that I can't imagine them being able to pull off...I see them milking the new bell and whistle
that ya just gotta try to believe...well I don't need anymore bells or whistles.

So I thought I'd ask others.....what in the world could they come up with to keep people
spending? ( and please...no cowbell jokes, one of those is enough to much)

Spacey,

I'd keep spending if they provide value like they did this time.

1. lanes, both take and automation
2. clip headers for for movement. Never did like the top/bottom half of clips

I wish I could predict what would float my boat but I guess I'm just a "show me and if I like it I'll buy it" kind of guy.
