A young Pat Travers tearing up on a Tele...........pre "Pat Thrall" era........the greatest rock guitarist nobody's heard of

Great tone ...............

Very tight, dry clean recording for a 1976 video....and a 3 piece...............damn!!!

The Maillard Reaction

Mr. Travers got a lot of air play in Florida back in his hey day.

That's an old favorite, it was probably my stepping stone to understanding and appreciating Mr. Hooker.

I feel lucky to have seen both play on separate occasions.

Fun memories.

I bought that 1991 'Boom Boom' live album on cassette for 50p about 15 years ago. Nicko 'Iron Maiden' McBrain...didn't know he played with Travers.

Really enjoyed watching the vids thanks. Awesome playing and great vocals to boot.

Not sure if it's a tele he's playing though.....but looks very similar.

I did a bit of reading on Pat's gear,in the early days he played a Fender Telecaster Custom Shop

Later in the 70's,  he incorporated a Gibson Melody Maker.

:-)

A 1976 Telecaster "Custom" predates the "Custom Shop" description... they didn't even call 'em "American Standards" back then cause they were all *American* back then.

They were just Fender Telecasters and if you got the one with the humbucker they called it the Telecaster "Custom" because i wasn't just a Telecaster.

I think I hear a big dose of circa '76 "flanger" happening too.

I think it was hearing the tone that made me question if it was a tele or not. Then I saw the humbuckers and the tremolo and felt unsure. Anyway, bloody awesome player.

Love it when someone plays that well and doesn't even have to look at the neck.

Pure class : )
