For my part, I had hoped that the thread I started last week would have attracted a huge pile up of nice messages for Michael to read.
It wasn't appropriate for me to use my usual attention getting antics so I made a very simple and sincere post.
When I expressed my awkwardness at being thanked for making the very small effort to initiate the thread and contact Mike I was mocked by my former friend.
My feeling is that each member of the community has the option to express a token of friendship to any one they see living with pain.
It seems like a kind word to both someone in Mike's situation and to someone in Jon's current state of anger could go a long way.
It surprises me that so many decline the opportunity of making some small gesture.
It disappoints me to see the many kindergarten recess shout outs used as a substitute.
But hey, it's the internet... I'm constantly told that it's unrealistic to expect more than I have observed.
I just know that I do have a personal opinion that it could be a whole lot better and it wouldn't hurt anyone to give it a try.
all the very best,
mike
