FWIW Michael Norman, a fine person who usd to frequent the coffee house, has actually been struggling with a diagnosis of Cancer.

His first biopsy was negative and he will be under the knife this week in an effort to track down the cause of his discomfort.

This idea; to mock a thread that was posted for Michael to see and maybe take some small pleasure from, is about the lowest and most disgusting act of unbridled anger that I have ever witnessed from an individual I once considered a friend.

Who ever came up with the idea ought to check their bad attitude and figure out who they want to be angry with and who they want to be for the days they have remaining.

It seems like some of the acquaintances here could offer to help their friend calm down and encourage him to act with some modicum of focus, if not at least some basic kindness.

Nuff said.

best regards,
mike
What has this got to do with Mike Norman, who I can concur indeed present himself here as a fine person?

Yes it paraphrases a thread you started which I considered a thoughtful reaching out to a forum friend.  I indicated that to you in that thread before you went into some faux humility routine.

I enjoy John T's insights into certain aspects, and do genuinely miss that input.  Further I wish him well and wonder what he is doing.

You are way out of line here, confusing an emotionally charged issue with the intent of this thread.

It wouldn't however be the first time you've been wide of the mark, and trust me if I was furious with you I'd tell you about it.  This has angered me but not to the point of fury. So don't accredit me with emotions you've decided belong to me when they don't.

I'm not furious with you any feelings I have toward you are genuinely nearer pathos than fury just now.

Best regards.

The Maillard Reaction

For my part, I had hoped that the thread I started last week would have attracted a huge pile up of nice messages for Michael to read.

It wasn't appropriate for me to use my usual attention getting antics so I made a very simple and sincere post.

When I expressed my awkwardness at being thanked for making the very small effort to initiate the thread and contact Mike I was mocked by my former friend.

My feeling is that each member of the community has the option to express a token of friendship to any one they see living with pain.

It seems like a kind word to both someone in Mike's situation and to someone in Jon's current state of anger could go a long way.

It surprises me that so many decline the opportunity of making some small gesture.

It disappoints me to see the many kindergarten recess shout outs used as a substitute.

But hey, it's the internet... I'm constantly told that it's unrealistic to expect more than I have observed.

I just know that I do have a personal opinion that it could be a whole lot better and it wouldn't hurt anyone to give it a try.

all the very best,
mike

One of the things I really like about John T is that he has no concern as to whether he is popular, and very unlike you he usually fully accepts the consequences of his conduct.

I love all the 'characters' in this place, even some of those I don't like.  They are what make the place cook.

Do me a courtesy and use the words given McQ

They are being tailored and expressed with care especially for you, yet you've chose to ignore a good half of what has just been said in a characteristic appeal to the 'gallery'.

And again what does this thread have to do with any individual other than the one I mentioned aside from the fact I used the same vehicle to illustrate I'm not selective on a human level about who I show concern for when that concern is meant?

To denigrate my interest in Mike's welfare in this way is beyond reprehensible.

Where's our friend John T? How's he doing?

Last I heard he was sinking a few jars and chatting to some birds.
