If I was on the panel, this would have a more international flavor ... I find it sad that other scenes did not get mentioned and that Banco, PFM, Egberto Gismonti, Keith Jarrett (who blew up the jazz piano thing!), the German folks, and many others are not mentioned.
 
But I will be happy with my oldest friend and sometimes mentor, Peter Hammill, being accepted and appreciated for the incredible amount of work that no one will ever listen to ... or give a damn about ... because folks here, and in many other places are xenophobic, and always think that someone else's version of God is wrong and not the right way!
 
This board is no different!
 
There is no right, there is no wrong ... THERE JUST "IS" ... and the rest is history and water under the bridge ... but trying, experimenting, and checking out different things and ideas ... is not something that almost all of us are comfortable with!
 
There is a wonderful moment in WoW ... that is really with it ... one character yells out ... "there is no light ... there's no dark ... there is only Power! ... " ... and in the end he is RIGHT. If you are in the middle of space, out in nowhere land ... you only have one thing ... dark ... so your ability to know "light" would be hard ... and then when you see a star in its fusion process, or fission process, then you see "energy coming together with awesome power ... my translation of this is ... "there is no light ... there is no dark ... there is only energy!" ...
 
And to me, that energy is resolved in your music and work! And for that work to have "power" it will have to be "free" of any strings of ideas, in order for it to be able to stand up on its own strength and ability!

While I know that you guys love to say and talk about this being fun and what not ... I really question the oversight of the result that you have and the amount of music you guys have made.
 
I think of you guys much higher and better than you guys even do, with or without the bad jokes ... but I do not find, the CHB pretentious at all, and find the efforts outstanding, though I might like to hear/see a couple more things added to it other than a cowbell, or yet another 4/4 time sequence and another chorus! Doesn't mean those are wrong ... I just would like to hear something else ... that would trully make it "progressive" as per its sometimes weird description out there in the cemetary of Progressive Archives and information on the Internet.
 
In general, the CHB is not progressive at all ... but it doesn't matter ... it's great music ... and I don't care what it is called!
 
But I would have named the CHB before Rush anytime ... not that I don't like Rush, but I'm getting really tired and bored of the fan thing with that band! It's not even that great written material, but the combination of music and lyrics is very good and well defined, and you can't ask a whole lot more from a band at all, sometimes.
