It's only 8 cu.ft.
Stack the boxes on either side of the
bed as night tables.

Nice idea, but then where would I put the inflatible sheep?

(And, actually, it's a good bit more than 8 cu. ft.!)

Sell the sheep.
Actually 4,000 CD's is 24 cu. ft. and you priced @ 1/3 of that....it's so
close the idea will work. If they are in very condition it is a much better
idea to save them as they will soon be obsolete and you may have a
chance for them to make money rather than taking a loss now.
I know...jmo...sell enough to keep buying the gold numbered limited edition
as a handful of mine are already being listed to sell at 6x what I paid....but
mine aren't for sale.

 .28 more actually.

Probably fine if you have a steady income, I don't right now (and B of A still has my $650k+) so anything that helps me eat and pay the rent is good right now.  I'm guessing that things will improve dramatically starting after November regardless of who wins - that's how it's set up.  I also know that budgets tend to open up for new jobs in January so I'm mainly trying to survive until then.

Paying for a storage unit when you have better things to do with the money is what I'd like to cut...

I'm not sure what to say. I have no MP3s and no i-pod. I buy a CD if I hear something I really like or see one I want to try. I like t read all the liner notes and look at the pictures as well as listen to the music. I'm constantly picking up the insert to see who is playing on a particular song or to see the song writing credits.

I guess one day I will have to get with the program but really I don't buy nearly as much music as I did when I was younger.

I have a hard time getting rid of things too.

Keep All of Them !!!

You'll be sorry you sold them..................maybe not not now ...........but at some point.

I use digital music ....Itunes etc................but....

When I find something I like I always purchase the CD...................
They never leave my house....................I just burn a copy................

Sometimes I'll find something on the Itunes store.....buy it......then search for a hard copy on line and order that as well.

Itunes and mp3's are handy.............but there is a noticeable  difference in audio quality........................compressed music doesn't hit as hard and lacks depth..............
I have also noticed some of the  recordings with lower levels don't compress well at all............

Keep the sleeves/artwork. Render them all to 320kbps MP3's and throw/give away the discs. You can burn 'em again one day if you want.

I understand and hope you're right.

I've never sold CDs but I'd personally prefer a bulk transaction for possibly less
money than selling in groups (if you have partial or complete collections or even genre packages).
Hard to say how I'd handle it but hope it works out as you want.

Regardless I'll have to wait for a bit until after I've moved into the new place.  The boxes with the CD's are in the very back and a bit buried.  Even once I can get to them, it's going to take quite a while to list which ones I have!  (Naturally, being the geek that I am, I'll have my media manager produce a report that I'll suck into Excel and use that to make a check-off list. )

The way I look at it is this:  If it means getting rid of the storage unit completely, then they go.  Otherwise, they might as well stay where they are...

To be honest, if there looks like there will be enough room for me to get my music gear out of storage, then other "projects" will probably be shelved for a while - I wanna play!  LOL!

Hi,

Well, I do have an empty garage ... but it's not as insulated or secured as a storage facility might be though. !!!
