I'm well overdue on upgrading my studio DAW. I've been looking at the following two packages as contenders.

I need at least one PCI slot so these both fit the bill.

Any opinions as to one being preferable over the other?

Anything superior at a similar price point?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Be careful about the PCI slots, as most of the Z77 motherboards that have a PCI slot are actually a "bridged" slot from the PCIe bus and not a "pure" PCI slot, if that is what you require.  I have one newer PC (my DAW PC) with a Gigabyte GAZ77X UD5H motherboard and its slot is the bridged type.  I have a second PC with an ASUS P8 Z77V-LE Plus and its the same setup.

Aye, what Mr. Fireberd said.

Or change up to the latest PCI Express (PCIe) version of the MOTU 424 host card (if that's why you need at least 1 PCI slot), and you'll not need to worry about native or bridged PCI (and no longer need PCI slots).

If you really do need native PCI support, you are probably better off getting a motherboard using a B75 or Q77 chipset which have such, but then you won't have the ability to overclock the i7-3770K cpu like you can with a Z77 motherboard.

I would think either of those 2 bundles you linked to would work fine, so long as you don't need native PCI. The bridged PCI slots on those board are a waste of space imho (unless you actually just need the free slot space and not the slots).
