Lynn
Here is a song that I wrote about a month ago and is now begging to be heard.  I did all the parts except bass guitar, which was played by my longtime friend, Roger Fife.  It's kind of a quirky look at falling in love.  I've listened to this song so many times that I've lost perspective, and I'm hoping that you all can give me some needed guidance.  Thanks to all in advance for your help.

Love that syncopated opening!  Great breaks, nice guitar work, lead vocal very clean and nicely done.  Excellent songwriting.  I think this is one of your best tunes overall.

Something is slightly off in the mix, maybe it is things are too hard panned?  Maybe the crunchy rhythm guitar shouldn't be 100% hard left?  It is an important element that maybe should sit more central.  Maybe.  I am not a reliable set of ears because I hear something different every time I listen to my own stuff, so see what other folks think.

In any case, great stuff Lynn.

Very cool Lynn.
The delayed guitar brings George Harrison to mind which ain't a bad thing. Love the oohs too.
Can't comment on the mix as I was listening through my phone. Will listen again on better speakers later.

Really interesting beginning has a nice psychedelic twist to it. The distorted guitar does however seem to be panned hard left, which is off putting at times. The vocals however are very crisp and come across really nice. You have some good production chops there.

Lots to enjoy in this Lynn, I liked it a lot, a well written song. Cool phrasing on the lead guitar fills!

Hey Lynn,

If you are going to pan that guitar hard left, you may want to add delay to the right to balance it, or just go ahead and double-track it (what I would do). Then you can move that synth to the middle and everything else is perfect.

Cool song, vocals and harmonies sound great. There's a lot to like in this track. Great work!

Dan

Great tune Lynn!  Well written and played.  I like the intro a lot.  Vocals sound good.

I find the hard panning gives a slight feel of disconnection between the three areas of the sound stage.  Perhaps bring them in a little.  Other than that small thing, it's a nice track Lynn, thanks for sharing.

Thanks to all who've replied!  The panning of the instruments was my big question, too, and there seems to be a consensus that the guitar is panned too wide.  My goal was to balance the synth in the right channel with the guitar in the left channel.  The guitar is 85% left and the synth is 70% right, but I'll bring the guitar in to 70% left when I remix this.  Great ears, everybody!

Other than the mix suggestions already made, I think you've got a good song here Lynn!   The arrangement is real solid, everything seems to have its place.  Vocals sound good, both lead and harmonies, and I like the simple piano part - it adds a little something.    But musically it's those slide fills that really set it apart for me, love the lines and your use of delay.

Oh.. and the little "dum-de-dum" at the end.
