Hello ol' friends...
I have not visited the forum in a long time, but just heard the sad news... (thanks TimBo)
I've upgraded to Platinum, I'm still mainly using vers 8.5 with win10, with no problems, but would like to install on new pc machines in the future... what to do..?

Hey Frank - good to see that you're still on the right side of the grass. I've just bookmarked your bandcamp page so I can have a listen of what you've been up to all this time. I've dithered over setting up a bandcamp account for a while now......what do you think of it?

Hi Paulo,

Apologies for butting in, but I also took a while to set up my Bandcamp page. I actually like it and I find it is a good place to publish finished albums. Whereas I use SoundCloud as a dumping ground for every damn POS I make.

You still have to drive people there, though, as there isn't any kind of community over there.

cheers

Thanks for the info. I've never actually bothered to compile what one might call an album, so there's that to consider. It was more the feedback side of things than trying to sell stuff that I was interested in tbh, so I guess it's not really the right place for me.

No, definitely not a great place for feedback.

SoundCloud is best for that but you also have to put up with a lot of spam and crap. And then of course there are places like the Songs forum here, of course.

I've a soundcloud page for years but I've never really taken to it - it seemed to me that most people who wanted to "follow" you were only really after you returning the favour so that they could amass more "followers". I also never found out how to re-order or take stuff down altogether and then there's the spam and such.........

I used to be quite active in the songs forum here, but it took a turn for the worse (IMO) some time ago and has never really recovered from that. I just can't be doing with the pissing contests, fragile egos and most of all the constant  tactical bumping of threads. Each to their own, but it ruined it for me which was a shame because there were some very talented folk that mostly became buried but the tacticians and moved on.

I must be naïve I suppose, but I've never been aware of this 'tactical bumping' thing, which has been mentioned elsewhere. I see people replying to comments and thanking the poster for them, but I don't see *much out and out 'bumping' of threads to get a song to the top of the page. If your tune doesn't get commented on, it soon sinks to page 2.

Then again, perhaps I'm just being 'coy'...

*Edited to include the word 'much' because there are a couple of people who do that.

I've never considered you personally to be either naïve or coy and I like to think that you know that I have respect for both your musical ability and what I perceive to be your qualities as a human being, but if it's not tactical bumping, what else do you call it when people, for example, have several replies to their thread but only acknowledge the first one and ignore the ones below it and then only acknowledge the next one once their thread has dropped down the page a bit and still ignore the others, then acknowledge the next on only once they have dropped down the page a bit again  and so on ? Or the timely comments from their mates that have sod all to do with the track posted or any of the other comments made in the thread, or the time that finally did it for me when one person pushed about 15 of their own previous threads to the top of page 1, thus pushing many others on to the page 2 of death ? (None of which were mine so it's not like it affected me personally) but it was just totally indicative of the selfish attitude that seemed to prevail at the time and which has continued to some extent ever since.

Anyway, let's not hijack the thread any more.

WRT the OP - it would be kind of ironic if lots of people now bought the last version for this reason as if they had all been sufficiently concerned about losing their precious DAW to have bought it in the first place the situation may not have arisen.

Well, fair enough. I don't think I can argue with that Paulo.
