What has been the verdict on eist, cstates, core parking for win 8, especially using the newer X or K processors? Should I disable them?
All that garbage was basically for older motherboards and wasn't really conclusive for all applications anyway but some of the mythology around it all still remains.
Leave it all as is and select a high performance power plan (W7) and let Windows take care of it if you turn that stuff off from the BIOS you'll lose any benefits of Turbo speeds. Turn off any unwanted device stuff from the BIOS like any onboard audio, superfluous network entries etc, you don't plan to use. I also make sure any USB stuff is prevented from going to sleep via Windows too.
Aside from setting up my memory manually my BIOS is set to it's high-performance defaults. I don't want to get into the HPET thing after that last thread other than to say mine is still turned off.
