My amp has some hum when I have it on OD, and it comes through when I record. How do you get rid of it within Sonar?

I assume you mean when you are not playing?
There are several good gates that come with sonar. The Sonitus works great, as does the new BT one. Just grab one of those babies and use it.

Yeah, after I record and play it back, there's hum from the amp in the mix.
What is BT?
Thanks! I appreciate your help!

how loud is the hum when you are playing? You shouldn't be able to hear the hum over the playing. A gate will eliminate the hum when there's no signal, but if you can hear the hum in the track with the guitar playing, you need to solve that issue as no gate in the world will stop that.
Better signal levels from the guitar might help. Be sure the guitar is not close to the monitor. Even my flat screen has hum that gets picked up if I'm in front of it and close enough. I normally have to turn sideways or back away before the recording starts.

I have to turn and get the right angle to eliminate monitor hum when I'm sitting in front of the computer and recording guitar. But my amp has some noise when I turn up the OD a little. It's not
loud
, but it's there.

dont try to fix it with sonar.
fix it the proper way, with updated guitar shielding, better cables, power filtering, etc.
fix it at the source.
there is really only one way to do a job right.

My biggest deal is the pick, and when it hits the face of the guitar? You pretty much have to track that again.
It's a loud "CLICK" on the recording.
