Recording/mixing Tambourine (p.2)

I used a modestly priced 10” wood hoop Stagg TAW-102 tambourine with NO membrane:

It was recorded through an AEA R92 ribbon mic into a Grace 501m pre.
I spent a lot of time optimizing distance from the microphone and when I recorded, I was very careful to keep the distance constant.
In terms of technique, I held the tambourine vertically to keep the jingles from choking with a strict wrist action while shaking. The stop was done with the heal of my hand being very careful to keep the tambourine vertical while striking it.
It only happens a few times during the intro but I was very proud of the result when finished.
