I would imagine that there are more problems going on than what is apparent. Think about it, would you close down a part of your business if it was raking in the money for you? Obviously Cakewalk is not, and haven't been for some time, the writing has been on the wall for a long time, with all the shuffling going on between the new model then lifetime updates and different models for various parts of the business etc being swapped and changed regularly. There has to be a reason no one wants to hang on to Cakewalk for very long, and lets face it, outside these here forums it doesn't really have a very good reputation, it's not all that popular, and it's not exactly the first name to roll off someones lips when the discussion is DAW's. That's just how it is.
