Hi:  I am getting close to needing a bigger hard drive for my DAW.  I have three Samsung F3 1TB drives, but realize I need to get something bigger soon.

Samsung F3's are quiet and quick, but don't come in 1.5 or 2 TB sizes.  What do you gurus recommend for quick and QUIET hard drives for Sonar 2xa based DAW?

I've always opted for Western Digital - their Caviar range seem to be extremely reliable.

DON'T get any "green" version - they'll shut themselves down when you least expect them to

Thanks.  Yes, I have used WD Caviar Black drives before and they are fast, but they tend to be just a little noisy, at least when compared to the Samsung Spinpoint F3's.  I still use two of them for backup drives with an external drive bay.

I just did a little more digging and found that Samsung has a 2TB Spinpoint F4EG drive.  If it is quiet and reliable, I will probably grab a couple.

[Edit:  Darn it!  This samsung is 5200rpm and slow.  Looks like it is either WD black or Seagate Barracuda for larger fast drives.]

I just went with 2 TB Barracudas-They seem to be doing great, easy install and no issues that I can see

When you buy, watch the specs though because they come in 8-64 MB Buffer

I just bought a WD Caviar black 1 T to replace the whatever brand 500 G.
Gonna stick it ion when I get the new RAM.
