Any advice greatly appreciated.

The only issue is the fans on the Corsair liquid CPU coolers.  I have an H80 in my new built with an i7 3770.  The OEM fans are noisy and a tech at Corsair confirmed this and recommended aftermarket "quite fans".  I did that on mine and I can record with an SM57 mic pointed in the direction of the tower within 3 ft and not pick up any noise.

The reason I had talked to Corsair is I used a Corsair Carbide 500R case and the fan speed control on the front panel was defective, and they sent me a complete new front control and I/O panel.  I mentioned the loud fans on the CPU cooler while I had the tech on the phone and that was when I got the comment about the loud fans and that "many have replaced them with quiet fans".   If loud fans are not an issue then the stock fans are OK but for a recording studio PC it was unacceptable.

Cheers Firebird
I had watched a video from Corsair about the H100i and in that they too had replaced the stock with after market fans.
I had considered it, but thought I'd see what the stock one were like and then replace as necessary.
Good to know, thanks for the reply.

memory incompatibility is a bugger with 3930k
you need 1.35v  or runit @ 1333 or lower

The H80 liquid cooler, I have, works great.  I have the fan control set on the lowest speed setting and never change it.  My i7 3770 cores generally run around 30 C at idle or low use and rarely go over low 40's C.

With quality 3rd-party CPU cooler, the 3770k at 4.5GHz runs extremely cool.
ie:  The 3770k in my Cube (4.5GHz) idles ~20 degrees C.

Thanks jcschild
There was something up with the links I posted (firefox messing about again)
I've updated them and double checked the memory I'm going for is 1.35V.

That's the kind of thing that could really bugger things up in a big way.
