That's 'Tik-Tak', my 2nd Siamese, no longer with us sadly.

I used to work for a couple of guys that bred Siamese cats and I got given two over the years that they couldn't sell. The first ('Blue Tak') was slightly brain-damaged but very sweet. Unfortunately he was also deaf, and ran under my van one morning just as I pulled away, and I ran over him. Bad day.

'Tik-Tak' had a flattened rib-cage so we got her later on. She only really liked me, anyone else would get bitten or scratched if they came near. She'd play 'fetch', but only with a certain toy mouse that went on sale at Xmas each year in a cat's 'stocking'.

I've always told myself that I'm a dog person and that I don't like cats. I think that this is a lot to do with how cats appear to be so independent and don't show much affection. However, I now realise that I am quite wrong in that.

We recently lost our last dog, Molly, and we were both quite upset. We have no intention, at this time at least, to get another dog.

Before Molly passed away we noticed a particular cat spending quite some time in our garden. Molly was so poorly towards the end that she was hardly ever out in the garden and spent most of her time on her bed. So I think that perhaps the cat thought that the coast was clear and our garden was another safe place to hunt for birds.

A couple of times, the cat actually started to poke its nose into our open back door. And one day it made it as far as the back room, having passed through the kitchen.

And more recently it has started following us in through the front door... Want's a fuss... Makes a cat like racket and all that. The other day it settled down for a cat nap in one of our comfy chairs. And yesterday I was sat at my PC and it passed below my legs, making me jump at little bit because I didn't even know it was in the house.

We have no idea who's cat it is. It isn't, as far as we can tell, a neighbour's cat and I often see it out and about in all weathers.

We deliberately do not feed it because we do not want it to think that we can be relied on as a food source, mainly because we will not always be at home.

As a "dog lover" though, I think it is quite nice to have the odd visit from our new friend
